PAST PERFORMERS
PAST PERFORMERS
Alison Middleton
Alison’s been a stand-up for a few years, but has been complaining for much longer. In one review, she was flatteringly compared to Kylie Jenner. She has since been sent a cease and desist.
‘A masterclass in confidence and delivery’, Cherwell.
‘We cannot offer you sponsorship at this time’, Frijj
Olley Matthews
Olley has been in the environment for as long as he can remember and is a massive fan of its early work, not enjoying its post 2010 releases as much. He always takes Uber Pools, even when he could have walked, to defend the environment till his final step.
Fran Best
Fran is a twenty-something who’s done stand-up, sketch and sitcom writing. Fran thinks laughing in the face of despair (e.g. impending climate doom) is a good idea, though it doesn’t always go down well at funerals. Fran’s hoping stand-up will still have a role in whatever form the apocalypse takes.
Simona Della Valle
Simona is a PhD student who loosely works on environmental sustainability. She regularly cracks jokes about science because she knows her research is so hopeless that she would rather laugh than cry. Expect peer-reviewed despair with statistically significant chuckles.
Eddie Maza
Eddie, long time listener first time caller, is changing the comic climate here in Oxford. He’s as easy on the environment as he is generally.
Dominic McGovern
Dom is an erstwhile comedian and writer from West London. He spends a lot of time in Australia, but hopes to offset his carbon footprint by only using ethically sourced lube. He’s a National Finalist of the 2020 Melbourne International Comedy Festival RAW Comedy competition, previous finalists include Demi Lardner, Ronny Chieng, and Hannah Gadsby.
Rosie Minnitt
Rosalie is a writer and performer based, somewhat unexpectedly, in Wiltshire. She has brought original work to the National Student Drama Festival and performed comedy across the UK as a member of the Durham Revue. She made her stand up debut at Comedy vs Climate Change’s first-ever gig (cute).
Sully Rahim
Sully is a newcomer to both stand-up and caring about the environment. He started doing comedy mainly because it’s cheaper than therapy and almost as effective. He also really enjoys kinder buenos which makes being a vegan hard (spoiler alert: he just eats them and feels guilty while doing it).
Chloe Jacobs
Chloe is a stand-up, sketch and improv comedian who has performed with the Oxford Imps and Revue as well as on the stand-up circuit.
“Savage, but incredibly witty” – Oxford Opening Night
“Charmingly self-deprecating and wonderfully self-assured” – Cherwell
Ararat Ameen
This is Ararat, expunging her nose of a 4 hour accumulation of snot in the damp basement of a bookshop. Her life is comprised of an elaborate sequence of errors, such as putting herself forward for gigs. She would be most grateful if you could laugh where appropriate. With her not at her.
Leo Reich
Leo is a standup comedian, writer, and recent winner of the 2Northdown New Act of the Year competition. He used to perform his dumb brand of flamboyant, self-involved standup across the country, but since that became illegal he mainly makes silly videos for people like Comedy Central and E4.
Josh Christopher
Outrageously funny, humble and beautiful, Josh is a comedian from East London who writes his own bios. He likes comedy, the climate, and long walks in the environment.
Adam Husain
Adam is a sometime stand-up comic, known for his near-dependency on the jokes of Stewart Lee and Johnny White Really-Really. Although he’s now as rusty as hell, he’s looking forward to performing at Comedy vs Climate Change again soon, and to “standing up” in and amongst the so-called “new normal”.
Declan Amphlett
Declan is from Worcestershire (ha ha yeah like the sauce! good one mate x). He first heard about climate change in 2006, when Al Gore came to him in a dream. It was scary. He also regularly writes for Buzzfeed and you won’t believe what happened next!
Joseph Capel
Disturbingly stressed for a man with such little responsibility. Stand up and sketch comedian. Performed with the Oxford revue and produced comedy for the ADC theatre in Cambridge. Miserable, dead-pan style and nasal voice, useful if you have too many cheery comedians on a bill.
